Lake Oesa Trail

The trail in this photo connects Lake Ohara to Lake Oesa in Yoho National Park just over the Alberta border in British Columbia . You need to hike the area to appreciate the back breaking work done by Lawrence Grassi(The Lake Ohara area's first warden, 1956-1960) who had been a coal miner at Canmore, Alberta. Grassi Lakes near Canmore, carry his name. About 1.2 km from Lake Oesa along this trail, he built the steps over the cliff, that always gave hikers a problem to climb over. A plague was placed near the steps in 1970 honoring him for contributing so much to the excellent trail system in this area.
