Prairie Sentinel

The Wooden Elevator, a symbol of the Canadian Prairies, is fast dwindling in numbers. The first elevators appeared on the Prairies in the 1870s. During the next 60 years, nearly 6,000 were built. Virtually every Prairie village had one or two elevators. I must say my memories of growing up in Saskatchewan, includes Elevators. I miss these Sentinels of the Prairies.
