The Day After


Would you believe this I shot the photo of this groundhog today? It must be spring being he did not see his shadow and was out of his den. Actually this is not a groundhog, but a close relative by the name Hoary Marmot . They are common in Alpine meadows where they can be seen eating anything green. Their only natural enemies are grizzlies, who must dig up their burrows to get them, and golden eagles, who pick them off from the air. I shot this photo in a Alpine meadow above Lake O'Hara in Yoho National Park.
