Alpine Meadows

Rolly and I are making our way up switch backs on the slopes of Mount Odaray in this photo. A break is in order while I compose and shoot this photo. The destination for the day is Odaray Grandview Ridge ( Archives for Dec/05, Odaray Grandview Ridge ). I wanted you to get a idea where the Alpine Meadows is situated, as the next photo shows one of the two huts located there. The Yukness Ledge ( March/06 Yukness Ridge ) shot was taken on the Ledges at the top and to the right of this photo. Directly behind Rolly and in the distance very much below, are the Alpine Meadows. The elevation at the lake is 6700 ft above sea level, We are at the 8000 ft ( I use a watch with a built in altimeter) level at this point.
