Wooden Decoy

I shot these photos of the Wood Ducks in the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary lagoon. They are uncommonly encountered along wetlands and rivers in southern Alberta. These Wood Ducks are probably a direct result of the release of Wood Ducks in the sanctuary. The male Wood Duck is the most colourful water bird (looks like a brightly painted decoy) in North America with its image adorning books, magazines and calenders. The female has the distinctive "Cleopatra" eye patch.
