Just to the East

Hard to believe when you look at this photo that there is not a stitch of snow 10 kilometers away from where I shot this photo. I am standing in this bog that come summer, you would observe a moose feeding here in the early morning hours. This photo is just to the east of Upper Kananaskis Lake, looking towards the Elk Lake Provincial Park area of British Columbia. If you were to look on a map of Alberta, you would see that the BC-Alberta border is only a few kilometers south of where I stand shooting this photo. Elk Lakes is a popular destination for cross country skiers at this time of the year. This hidden gem in BC is a gorgeous isolated park that I'll bet is frequented more by Alberta residents than BC residents. Great park to visit in the summer with a back-country campground by the lakes. Of course you have to hike in from Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, located in Kananskis Country.
