Canis Latrans Tracks

I have been interested in tracks since I was a kid in Saskatchewan.I would make my way through the willows and open meadows, bordering the Frenchmen River, 22 in hand looking for quarry. We would spend hours tracking rabbits, that would be bedded down for the day in the snow, where their white coats made them almost invisible to spot. However we had a competitor, who also wanted one of those rabbits. That would be a Coyote, whose tracks this photo is of. They were seldom successful, as the rabbit would bound away as the coyote got close. While the rabbit stayed on top of the snow with the huge feet nature provided, the coyote floundered in snow up to his belly and soon gave up the chase. Not unlike the cartoon where the coyote is forever trying to catch the roadrunner.
