Kananaskis Rock

In 1858, explorer John Palliser named the pass he was about to cross, "Kananaskis Pass". Not many people are aware the highest driveable pass in Canada is south of Kananaskis Lakes on highway 40 at 7800 feet above sea level. I continue to marvel at this place called Kananaskis Country.
Yesterday, I made the trek via Canmore, south on the Smith Dorren Highway, making stops along the way to shoot photos such as a Rocky Mountain Big Horn Ram with a superb set of horns. I also observed sled dogs pulling sleighs loaded with passengers, making their way past ice fishing huts with fisherman ice fishing for trout on Spray Lake. I have to say, it was another superb day in K Country. This photo, I shot on the west side of Highway 40, as I neared the parking lot for the hike into the Galatea creek area.
