Big Rock
What do you think of my big rock? What's that you say, it don't look that big.
Check out my daughter Jennifer ( Archives Oct/05 Jennifer as she was ) taking a photo in the lower left. The "Big Rock"
is the largest glacial erratic in the world. It stands 9 meters high and weighs
more than 16,500 tons. The Blackfoot Indians have a folk tale about the Big Rock. In the story the rock is rolling around, chasing people and squashing them. Naapi ("NAH-pee"), the Blackfoot mythical hero, shoots an arrow up into the sky, it comes down on the Big Rock, splitting it into the three pieces and thus bringing it to a halt. The "Big Rock" is located west of Okotoks, Alberta, and is a well known landmark in the area.
