Seven Sisters

This is another photo I shot while we tramped around the Lake O'Hara region of Yoho National Park, which is located in British Columbia just to the west of Lake Louise in Alberta. The Seven Sisters Falls tumbles from cliffs above the south end of Lake O'Hara. The falls are effuent of the distant Lake Oesa ( Archives Dec/05 Lake Oesa Trail ). If you look carefully, you'll notice that the water pours from fissures near the top of the cliff face. Legend has it that the name derives from a Indian legend about seven sisters who were frightened by a hunter. In their extremity, they begged the mountain to protect them and the mountain transformed them into seven falls. As you see from Rolly's appearence, it was a rather cool day.
