Rawson Creek
One of the premier destinations in Kananaskis Country is Rawson Lake. This Alpine lake lies in a hanging valley above the Upper Kananaskis Lake. Rawson Lake is high on my list of backcountry lakes, that I hike into at least once each summer for some flyfishing. At one time you rarely saw other hikers who ventured into Rawson Lake. Why? because you had to bushwack up Rawson Creek from where the creek entered Upper Kananaskis Lake all the way up to where the creek exited Rawson Lake. By the time you got there, you were played out from lifting your legs over deadfall that lie across the creek. The plus was the fact you had plenty of water to quench your thirst at your feet. Now there is a proper trail that switchbacks up the slopes of Mount Sarrail to the lake. Upper Kananaskis Lake is just behind me in this photo. I actually am standing ( half in the water is more like it) on a log bridge over the creek where I shot the photo. Sorry for the water being overexposed, but I shot the photo in heavy shade and did not want to lose all the surounding detail. To see more photo's, go to my website and click on Rawson Lake.
